There’s something so timeless and romantic about micro-weddings — just you, your person and your favourite people among the mountains. Dave & Eilish’s wedding at The Vale Tasmania near Sheffield was the perfect example of how beautiful simplicity can be. As a Canberra wedding photographer, I adore capturing love stories that feel authentic, and this one was as heartfelt and genuine as they come.
Their story began, like many modern romances, with a message on Hinge. A walk around the lake turned into countless shared coffees, weekend adventures, and two years of laughter and love. So it only felt right that their wedding day, the day they said “I do” fell exactly two years from that first “hello.”
Eilish and Dave had dreamed of a day that felt quiet, intentional and deeply them. Originally planning to elope just the two of them, they were drawn to The Vale Tasmania for its breathtaking natural beauty of rolling hills, misty mornings and that signature Tasmanian magic. The venue set the perfect scene for an intimate celebration
No rush, no big audience — just pure joy. The laughter between them, the gentle mountain breeze and the warmth of the afternoon sun all came together to tell their story exactly as it was meant to be: relaxed, romantic and full of love.
It was such a joy to capture the way Dave & Eilish looked at each other, completely present in every second. Elopements and micro-weddings like theirs remind me why I do what I do, capturing fun and authentic images of beautiful love stories that are as unique as the people in them.
