Golden hour (just after sunrise or before sunset) gives the most beautiful, soft light for engagement photos. I recommend booking your session 1–3 months ahead, especially if you have a specific date or season in mind. Engagement shoots can be done at any time of year — Canberra’s seasons each offer something unique and beautiful. Due to the volume of wedding bookings I have in Autumn and Spring, I have the most flexibility for engagement sessions in Winter and Summer months - both beautiful in their own way!
The best outfits are the ones that feel like you. Soft neutrals, pastels, complementary tones and even a classic denim moment all photograph beautifully. I recommend avoiding dark colours or busy patterns as they can distract from the connection between you — but don’t stress. If you have something special that tells your story (especially if you made it yourself!), I’d love to capture it. Comfort and confidence are key, and I’m always happy to help with styling advice if you’re unsure.
