Alethea & George’s Greek Orthodox Church Kingston wedding followed by their vibrant reception at the Hellenic Club in Woden was a celebration bursting with colour, tradition and so much joy. From heartfelt ceremony moments to a dance floor filled with energy, their day was the perfect blend of romance and Greek culture in the heart of Canberra.
Like many modern love stories, theirs began on Tinder and yes, it’s absolutely a success story! Their very first date was at The Dock in Kingston, where sparks quietly started flying. George might admit that without Alethea, he may never have found the courage to ask her out in the first place. But thankfully, he did and the rest is history.
In 2023, George proposed in a hotel room in Santorini. Alethea had no idea it was coming. George had been planning it for months, determined to create the perfect moment overlooking those iconic whitewashed cliffs and blue domes. The only hiccup? A sudden case of stress hives on the morning of the proposal! Despite that small challenge, he pulled it off beautifully and Santorini will forever hold a special place in their story.
Their wedding day in Canberra honoured their heritage while embracing a vibrant spring aesthetic. The ceremony at Greek Orthodox Church Kingston was rich in tradition, symbolism, and reverence. Surrounded by family and friends, they took part in meaningful rituals that have been passed down for generations. It was emotional, sacred and incredibly powerful to witness.
The celebration then continued at the Hellenic Club Woden, where vibrant florals and pops of colour created an atmosphere that felt joyful and alive. They kept Greek traditions woven throughout the reception while adding their own modern touches. What they looked forward to most was simple, having everyone they love in one room, celebrating together. And that’s exactly what they did.
Their advice to other couples? Embrace the chaos. Decision fatigue is real, so keep a spreadsheet and ask for help. Most importantly, remember it’s your day. Everyone will have opinions, but the celebration should reflect you.
Alethea & George’s Canberra Greek wedding was a beautiful reminder of the power of culture, connection, and community. Capturing their day was such an honour and exactly why I love what I do. 💛
