After saying I do on the other side of the world in beautiful Edinburgh, Lauren and Alex brought the celebrations home for round two, this time in the heart of Canberra. Their evening party at the National Library of Australia was intimate, elegant and full of joy, a perfect continuation of their love story.
The National Library’s terrace, with its sweeping views of Lake Burley Griffin, made the perfect backdrop for their southern hemisphere celebration. It’s a spot filled with special memories for them both, and it couldn’t have been a more fitting place to gather with Alex’s family and friends who weren’t able to make it to their UK wedding. The golden evening light, the sound of laughter and the relaxed energy of the night created the kind of atmosphere that reminds me why I love photographing weddings so much — authentic, heartfelt and completely them.
Even though this wasn’t their “official” wedding day, it had all the warmth and emotion of one. Lauren and Alex’s connection was effortless and genuine from the way they looked at each other across the terrace to the little bursts of laughter they shared throughout the night. Surrounded by their favourite people, the evening felt more like a homecoming. A chance to celebrate love, family and the journey that brought them together across continents.
It was an honour to capture this next chapter of their story. As a Canberra wedding photographer, it’s always special to see how couples make this city their own, whether it’s a big celebration, an elopement, or like Lauren and Alex, a heartfelt party that bridges two worlds.
Lauren and Alex’s celebration at the National Library of Australia was the perfect reminder that weddings aren’t just about one day. They’re about all the moments that come after, and the people you share them with.
