Parlour Wedding Canberra – Charley & Sebastian

Let me tell you about the most adorable love story that unfolded on a rainy day in Canberra! Picture this: a vintage-inspired wedding at Parlour in New Acton, with raindrops adding a touch of romance to the entire day.

But here’s the thing, love doesn’t always happen in the most expected places. Charley and Sebastian’s journey to their dream wedding started with a ski accident at Jagungal, a cozy Guthega Ski Lodge in the Snowy Mountains. Can you believe it? Love at first sight, or rather, love at first ski accident! Sebastian might have a sore knee as a reminder, but it’s all because of the magical connection he felt with Charley.

As the story goes, Charley’s Aunt had arranged for Sebastian to teach her how to ski during their stay. And let me tell you, it didn’t exactly go as planned. Charley left the lodge without mastering the art of skiing, while Sebastian left with more than just a sore knee—he left with Charley’s phone number! It’s those unexpected twists of fate that truly make love stories like this one so special.

In the beginning, Charley was like the mythical ‘Snow Girl’ to Sebastian’s friends and colleagues. They hadn’t attended many events together, so they were convinced he’s made the whole story up! But little did they know that behind the scenes, a beautiful love was blossoming, ready to take centre stage on their wedding day.

And that wedding day was nothing short of magical! A rainy backdrop, vintage-inspired Parlour decor, the ultra-cool industrial vibes of New Action and an energy in the air that could rival a love song. It was a day filled with joy, laughter, and heartfelt moments captured in the most authentic way possible.

And as a photographer, my goal is to capture those genuine smiles, happy tears, and all the unique quirks that make each couple’s love story so beautiful.

The lovely couple shared some wedding planning tips for other Canberra couples planning their forever day!

First up, Charley suggests considering having your wedding on a weekday. Why? Well, when they planned their wedding in just three months, they discovered a whole world of options available to them. Imagine having the freedom to choose your dream venue, photographer, and all the little details without any hassle! Plus, it adds a touch of uniqueness to your special day.

And here’s another golden tip from Charley: don’t let the vendors railroad you with wedding packages! Coming from 11 years in hospitality and 4 years in finance and procurement, she knows a thing or two about navigating the vendor world. It’s your day, and you deserve to have everything exactly as you envision it.

Now, let’s hear a tip from Sebastian. Sebastian suggests letting your partner pick her own rings. He knows firsthand how important this can be. It took Charley a whopping two years to find a ring she loved, thanks to Arnold & Co’s fantastic ‘engagement kit’. This ingenious kit allows you to mix and match band styles, gem cuts, and sizes from 0.25-2k. And the best part? Once she designs her own ring, she can’t blame you if she doesn’t absolutely adore it!
